Thurs 5th June

Today we went to Bucklebury Farm in Buckinghamshire with a homeschool group. 

There were so many babies - donkeys, pigs, lambs, goats. 

The children enjoyed the enormous playground, assault course and giant pillow.  We had a tour of the farm and a tractor ride to see and feed the deer.

 This fawn was just 15mins old.

Tues 3rd June

This morning we had a geography session to tie in with our FIAR book and our new Home Ed theme of the river test. 

And Gracie did more sewing - she has the bug.

In the afternoon at group we learnt about the source of the river, tributaries, estuary, mouth etc.  The little ones made a river with some blocks and water. The big ones made a river in the sand. 

Monday 2nd June

Back into more routined life this week. And this afternoon we visited our friends for some sewing fun. 
My three paired up with three older children and they each did a sewing project, well, apart from James who made paper aeroplanes and did his sewing at home. 

May half term

26th - 1st June
 
Crazy busy half term.
Bank hol Monday we enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa's company for a roast lunch.  We got especially excited over their kind offer to take us away for a week to Centre Parcs. :)

Tuesday - we celebrated our friends 5th birthday by going ice-skating together.  

 Evie took off without me for the first time ever and really got the feel of it on her own with her penguin. 

Wednesday we went for a walk with friends to Hilliers Arboretum even in the rain. 


















On Wednesday afternoon we met our lovely Mexican friend again and the children had a Spanish lesson learning about colours.  We had to order copious amounts of baby chinos so they let us stay so long !! 

 As a gift the girls were given the Ken and Barbie complete with all their Mexican clothes. 











Thursday we went to a princess tea party. 

Friday we actually did some housework and then went to the Memorial Park and James and his friend played tennis and the girls scooted.

Sunday was Grandpa Daryl's special birthday party.

Phew......and now I am meant to organise myself for Monday again.........

22 May - Bible Exhibition

We went to a bible exhibition.  The children were told the story of the Prodigal Son and then went round the exhibition with a worksheet/quizz to guide them round.

21st May - Birthday party for Gramps

Based on the success of James' soup, he has the masterchef bug and so we set off to the farm shop to buy some fresh watercress to make soup.  It's Grandpa's birthday lunch today so soup and birthday cake were in order.

20th May -

More Rainforest exploration at Home ed group.  Today they learnt more about the different layers of the forest and which animals live in which layers.  We also discussed tribal groups living in the forest.  A variety of crafts followed.

May 19th - A lovely Homeschool day

These are the days I love. No planned activities to try to get to, just a gentle meandering througout the day with some fun surprises along the way. 

Whilst I was working with Gracie, James found himself at a loose end.  I suggested he look through a recipe book and find something he would enjoy cooking one evening and make a list of ingredients etc.  He decided he would like to make butternut squash soup. After a bit of set up help he got on with making it by himself and boy did he enjoy it.

Gracie decided she would like to write a lunch menu.

They set the table and hosted lunch for a spontaneous visit from a friend. 












After lunch the girls made chocolate cup cakes. But I seem to have lost the photos. 
Lots of outside play with the chickens and on the swings. A great day.
